Furnace Pricing Guideline

A furnace is one home appliance that you literally can't live without.  Without furnaces, or other types of home heating appliances, we would all be freezing to death.  If yours has gone out, chances are you are quickly trying to get your ducks in a row and find a top notch furnace.  Below is a furnace pricing guideline to help you become more educated about your options and to get you prepared for what to expect to pay for your new furnace.

1)  The first thing to know about buying a new furnace is that even though there will appear to be many different options as far as brands and models, there really isn't that big a difference between all of them.  Almost every model is made by one of three main manufacturers and a different brand stamp is place on it.  Furthermore, the parts used to put them together all come from the same few suppliers.  The point is that there is not a tremendous difference between the different brands.  Cost will be determined more by the features of the unit.

2)  The biggest factor in determining the price of a specific unit will be the efficiency of the furnace. The more the efficient the furnace, the higher the price.  The following is a general guideline.  If the unit is 80% efficient, the cost will be around $1000.  If the unit is 90% efficient, the cost will be around $1500 to $2000.
